Overview

RISE is a mental health non-profit working in schools to raise awareness around bullying and provide guidance and support for young people facing related mental health challenges. Over the course of a month, I led a complete rebrand of RISE — covering strategy, design, messaging, and a toolkit of editable social media templates — with the aim of making the charity feel more professional, approachable, and recognisable.

Process

The project began with an in-depth remote strategy session using screen sharing and video workshops. From this, a clear brand story and voice emerged. During the brand attributes exercise, patterns in the feedback pointed towards two clusters of values: “approachable, connected, grounded” on one side, and “familiar, professional, empowering” on the other. Together, these values shaped a brand definition that became the filter for every creative decision moving forward.

With the tone established, I moved into design. Starting with pencil sketches, I explored multiple unique logo marks before developing them digitally. The original hand-lettered logo felt too casual and low-quality for the professionalism RISE needed, so the new design introduced a wholly digital mark — clean, modern, and recognisable, while retaining a welcoming colour scheme. From there, I created a full identity system, marketing materials, and editable social templates to empower RISE to manage their brand independently.

Challenges
  1. From Casual to Professional: The old brand lacked maturity, so the new identity had to elevate RISE without losing its approachable, human feel.

  2. Defining a Clear Brand Story: As a relatively unknown non-profit, RISE needed a strong brand definition to guide not only the rebrand but all future decisions.

  3. Consistency Across Platforms: The brand needed to look polished whether on posters, in schools, or on fast-moving social media channels.

Results

The rebrand gave RISE a professional, welcoming, and instantly recognisable identity that set it apart as a credible voice on mental health and bullying in schools. With a refined logo, a consistent brand system, and editable resources, RISE was equipped to present itself with confidence — helping them improve recognition, strengthen their presence in schools, and better position themselves for future funding opportunities.
